We opened the Episode with a "Previously, on Buffy," where we highlighted the elements from the earlier Episode that would have relevance to this one.

Teaser

• Basement of the Lobo house

  • Ernesto is talking to someone on his cell phone. He's trying to convince someone that the Slayer is a threat. We infer he's talking about Desi and he's talking to the male voice we've heard him call before (most recently, in Episode 1.05).

  • The listener is unconvinced. He rejects Ernesto's plan (which the audience never heard) and says he'll call when he has a plan of his own.

  • Fly Lady steps from the shadows and sympathizes with Ernesto for not being taken seriously. She offers, "There are other places we can go for help." She smiles slightly. Cut to black. Roll theme song and title sequence.

Highlights

• We meet a new Cast Member
  • We meet Troy, a member of the Allen High basketball team. We also meet Jan Feuchtgruber, Troy's exchange student from Sweden.
  • When Troy saw the name "Jan," he was expecting a female exchange student. To his horror, Troy discovered that in Sweden, "Jan" is a guy's name! And worse, Jan is a hunk who has caught the eye of Troy's girlfriend, Trish.
  • In order to nip this problem in the bud, Troy presents Desi with a gift. He gives her Jan!
• Pre-prom shopping
  • Jan gives a man's opinion
  • Desi tries to give JD money for her clothing, saying she successfully applied for a federal grant in JD's name. She tries to hand JD a wad of bills rolled up in a rubber band.
  • Periodic cut shots to Doug show him working on his computer.
• Desi pays Michael Chen a visit at the Tiger Schulmann's Karate.
  • While watching a class practice, Jan makes it clear that he knows his martial arts
• On leaving a tux shop
  • Desi, JD, and Jan encounter a group of townspeople haranguing a member of the Lobo gang. 
  • A large resident is right in the Lobo's face, making threatening gestures as a crowd begins to gather around.
  • JD calls the police on Desi's cell phone while Desi intercedes between the growing crowd and the Lobo. Ultimately, she realizes the crowd is beyond her ability to control and getting uglier by the minute. Desi creates an opportunity for the Lobo to leave, and he escapes from harm.
• Cut to Nina walking down the street
  • Nina looks up just as she passes someone on the sidewalk. The other figure is one step past her when Nina, appearing to realize that she's just seen something strange, turns to get a better look at the figure. But he's already walking rapidly away, and it turns a corner.
  • When Nina turns back toward the camera, we can see the fear on her face. With each step, she looks over her shoulder, back toward where she last saw the figure.
  • That's when Nina carelessly walks into Doug.
• Cut to the hours before the prom
  • Doug has arranged for a limousine to pick up the Cast Members. 
  • The limo picks up Kevin at his house. Doug and Jan are already inside. Doug has cleaned up well, even going so far as to get rid of that ridiculous spiked hair-do in favor of a more conservative cut.
  • They pick up Desi and JD. Desi looks great, and JD is absolutely stunning in her gown. Kevin's jaw drops when he first sees JD. Then he recovers, since JD is Doug's date.
• At the prom
  • We're surprised to see that the DJ for the prom is Hacksaw, the new bass player for Doug's band. Her tattoos are largely covered. She's removed her piercings and put her hair in a more conventional -- but still colorful -- do for this gig. She winks knowingly at Doug.
  • JD, Doug, Desi, Kevin, and Jan take their seats at their assigned table. After they're seated, John arrives, wearing his black hightop sneakers and a T-shirt that's printed to look like a tuxedo . He takes a seat at the table.
  • A few minutes later, Melissa and her date Chad show up at the table. Melissa looks over the assembled crew and says, "No. This can't be right." But she resigns herself to sitting at the table to which she was assigned.
  • There is some awkwardness. At one point, Kevin confronts Doug alone: "Do you have some sort of problem with me?" Doug replies that he'll be very upset if Kevin hurts Desi.
  • The Cast members notice shadows of what appear to be robed figures crossing outside the windows of the building where the prom is being held
  • Desi and JD excuse themselves to go to the ladies' room. Once inside the ladies' room, they're attacked by Bringers, servants of the First Evil!
  • Desi quickly dispatches one Bringer, while JD removes one of her spike-heeled shoes and drives it into the eye-socket of another Bringer. This propels the Bringer out of the door of the ladies' room, taking the fight into the main chamber. Other Bringers rush into the main room.
  • Although the Bringers fight anyone who gets in their way, they're obviously trying to reach Desi.
  • With help from Doug, Kevin, JD, and Jan, Desi defeats all of the Bringers. The rest of the prom-goers are distraught at having their function destroyed by a group of homeless people. (Homeless people? That's what the other people see? Why can Desi and company see the Bringers for what they are, while everyone else (including Jan) sees them as homeless folks?)
• Thus prematurely ends the prom
  • Doug and JD split in the limo before the cops show up.
  • Kevin, Jan, and Desi stay to give their statements to the police. 
  • Afterward, Kevin mentions that he felt awkward about tonight because he had originally invited Desi to the prom for the wrong reasons -- he did it to get back at JD, who accepted Doug's invitation to go to the prom. Kevin is about to explain that despite this inauspicious beginning, he thinks highly of Desi and would like to see more of her -- but Desi, hurt, cuts him off and walks away. 
  • Kevin catches a cab home rather than wait for the limo to return. Desi and Jan are dropped off at their respective residences by the police.
• A surprise meeting
  • Before Desi enters her home, a figure steps from the shadows on the sidewalk. It's Fly Lady. She introduces herself to Desi as Priscilla. 
  • Priscilla wonders how someone as strong as Desi clearly is could be so unhappy. Desi declines to talk about it. Priscilla suggests they have a coffee together and talk about it. Desi declines, so Priscilla proposes a rain check. Desi excuses herself and enters her home.
• Montage scene: Aftermath
  • JD has removed her prom clothes and is bandaging her wounds from the combat with the Bringers. She's in much more pain than she let on earlier.
  • Doug walks into his house, past his oblivious parents, and plops down on the bed. He's bloodied, but has a satisfied grin on his face.
  • Jan is in a conversation with Trish (Troy's girlfriend) and two of Trish's female friends, rehashing the terrible events of the night. Jan, regarded as a hero, beams throughout this discussion.
  • Desi is in her pajamas, sitting cross-legged on her bed. She's clutching her teddy bear to her chest.
  • Kevin is staring at the telephone in his apartment. He reaches for it, starts to dial, then changes his mind and hangs up. After a moment, he again picks up the phone and starts to dial. Again, he changes his mind before the entire number is entered and hangs up. After another pause, he reaches for the phone a third time. He stops with his hand on the phone when we cut to black. Roll closing credits.
