Mike considered having Desi grab Squid Face's tentacles one by one and whack them with the tire iron, severing each one, while shouting, "He loves me... He loves me not..." The Director allowed the action on condition that the tentacles suffer blunt trauma from each impact, but they not be severed.
At the time, dismemberment seemed to be in questionable taste.
