JD: I just want you to know that I appreciate that you were willing to give me a chance and I can't forget that. Now, let's move on to Desi.
Kevin: Excuse me?
JD: I said, let's move on to Desi --
Kevin: I heard you, but what do you mean?
JD: I've talked to her about the prom and stuff, and she's a little upset, as you may -- or may not -- have guessed.
Kevin: I've, uh, picked up on that.
JD: But she likes you. You know that, right?
Kevin: Actually, (chuckles nervously) no I don't. I'm, uh, pretty well convinced she hates my guts right now.
JD: Yeah, but that's because she likes you! If she didn't like you, she wouldn't be that upset, man. Don't you get it?
Kevin: No. (Pause) This is a girl thing, isn't it?
JD: Mmm, probably.
Kevin: No wonder I'm lost. Alright. So you're saying she likes me?
JD: Yeah.
Kevin: So... what am I supposed to do? 'Cause I like her, too.
JD: Good.
Kevin: And I definitely don't want, I mean, to... as soon as she and I see each other, the tension goes way (gestures "up to the eyebrows") -- and I don't want that, I don't want that at all... But I don't... I don't know how to stop it.
JD: I'm not an expert on love here. It's just not one of my things. (JD's tone of voice seems to say, "Next question.")
Kevin: Oh, no, no, Jewel! Jewel! You can't do this to me! You can't come in here and say, "Desi really likes you! Bye!" Somebody's gotta give me some advice to go on here! How do I talk to her? How do I make things better?
JD: Did I mention the reputation thing? I'm not the person to be asking for love advice here. But I know love when I see it, and she's in love. And I think you're in love, too. (pause) You have to convince her that she's not your second choice. That she's everything, man. I don't know how you do that, but that's what you gotta do.
Kevin: (sigh) OK. I'll have to get some advice, because I have no clue how to handle this.
JD: Hey, if love is important enough to you, you'll figure it out.
Kevin: OK.
JD: (pause) But I didn't really come here to talk about this.
