Mark Mendelson is a real person, and these are paraphrased accusations that have actually been leveled against him. Wanna see pictures of his most notorious blighted property, the Colonial Theater? Here are three, at about 100KB each:

• A wide shot of the exterior of the Colonial Theater. Other than being boarded up, it looks fairly innocuous from a distance.
• A closer shot of the exterior of the Colonial Theater. Hmm. Not so sure I'd want to rent office space in this structure.
• But lest you have any doubts, here's a shot of the interior of the Colonial Theater, taken through the window (sorry about the glare on the glass). Now, I understand that a lot of places look like crap on the inside while workmen are restoring or modifying them. But nobody's touched this building for more than a year. No work is being done on it or inside it. 

The Colonial Theater has been in this condition for years. It's ghastly. And it's only a block from City Hall, which makes a rather strong statement, don't you think?
