In real life, Chief of Police Stephen Kuhn was reasonably well regarded by the people of Allentown. However, he was strongly disliked -- and vocally opposed at every opportunity -- by the police officers he commanded and by the their union, the Fraternal Order of Police. 

Shortly before Force, Part I aired, the real Chief Kuhn announced his resignation.

I like to use real-world events in our games whenever I can. The impending departure of the the real world's Chief Kuhn did not bode well for his namesake in our game. His character had suddenly and unexpectedly become expendable, and that's rarely a good thing with Joss Whedon at the helm. 

Now, had I intended this Episode to be a vehicle for the departure of Chief Kuhn's character? Not at all. I'll tell you later what I was going for with this adventure. 

For now, let's just sit back and watch what hand Fate deals our Chief Kuhn, shall we?
