The interior of the furnace wasn't actually illuminated, of course. Quiet the
contrary, it was pitch black in there. Television uses blue lighting to imply
darkness, while still allowing the audience to see what's going on.
If we didn't do something like that, the audience wouldn't be able to see
anything. They might as well be watching radio.
