Desi: And what was that about?
Ms. Wells: Testing your reflexes. That's a pretty heavy sword for a girl your size.
Desi: Well, I'm stronger than I look.
Ms. Wells: I bet. Have you had any nightmares?
Desi: Everybody has nightmares.
Ms. Wells: Not like yours.
Desi: Look, there are things that you can't even imagine loose in this city. And I think maybe something in some of these books can help me and my friends fight them and stop them.
Ms. Wells: I can help you with that. You have friends, you say?
Desi: I can see you don't have much experience with that. (beat) You did catch the "Stuff you can't even imagine" part, didn't you?
Ms. Wells: Yes, I did catch that. So how far did your training get, besides martial arts?
Desi: Training?
Ms. Wells: Well, Philip told you about these things I can't imagine, right?
Desi: I think he was getting to that. When the phone calls stopped.
Ms. Wells: So you haven't had any of the book knowledge.
Desi: No.
Ms. Wells: That's too bad.
Desi: Yes, that's too bad. Why, I hear this from everyone! "Too bad you don't know what you are!"
Ms. Wells: Do you know what you are?
Desi: What do you think I am?
Ms. Wells: Well, you're a Slayer.
Desi: Why does everyone know about this, but I don't?! What, is it tattooed on my forehead or something?
