Celebrating Heroines in Fact & Fiction

Join acclaimed authors for young people KATHERINE PATERSON, RITA WILLIAMS-GARCIA, JEANNINE ATKINS, and HEATHER LANG and award-winning illustrator EKUA HOLMES on Thursday, May 4 for Celebrating Heroines in Fact and Fiction.

The literary and artistic work of this lively panel is of special interest to girls and young women, celebrating heroines in fact and fiction. It is our hope that teachers and parents will come away from this event full of ideas to inspire the young women in their lives to read and write, explore their creativity, and empower their potential to make a difference in the world.

This panel discussion, created especially for teachers, librarians, and parents, will be moderated by librarian extraordinaire Grace Worcester Greene. Children who are in the fourth grade and up are welcome to attend accompanied by an adult.

The NCBLA has published Education Resource Guides for each of the participating author’s books that include engaging activities and discussion questions for use in your classroom, library, or home on its website thencbla.org.
