Join Marisa Babb, PT, DPT for a reading of "Dancing in the Wings" followed by a presentation of tips for keeping young dancers healthy and free of injury. Dancers are an exceptional group and dance places unique demands on the body different from any other sport. To keep our young dancers dancing safely, it is important that they are aware of ways to prevent injury and that they learn how to protect their bodies. Ages 5 and up.
Marisa Babb, PT, DPT is a Physical Therapist at Elliott Physical Therapy in North Attleboro and specializes in Dance Medicine. She is a graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Springfield College, and also completed a dance minor during her undergraduate years. Growing up, Marisa trained in classical ballet and other dance styles at schools in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. She completed an internship in Dance Medicine Physical Therapy while in graduate school, and continued to work in that clinic for some time as a Physical Therapist and Dance Medicine Specialist. Marisa is now offering Dance Medicine services in North Attleboro and surrounding areas.
As a dancer herself, Marisa understands the dance culture and the unique physical and mental demands of dance. Her work is geared toward educating dancers about their bodies and how to use the body safely, effectively, and efficiently as a means of promoting a long and healthy dance career.
