Jan will conduct a drawing demonstration and talk about the inspiration behind her work, followed by a book-signing. There will even be a visit from Hedgie the Hedgehog! Tickets are $5 per person, and may be used as a coupon towards the purchase of any Jan Brett book the day of the event.
FAQ’s for Jan Brett’s Event:
Can we purchase Jan’s books at the bookstore?
Yes! We will have all of her books available the day of the event. Jan will do her very best to sign all of the books that time permits. The number of books that Jan can sign per family depends on how many people come to the signing. If time does not permit Jan to sign every book, An Unlikely Story will have special signed bookplates featuring Jan’s artwork for all of the extra books.
What does the presentation consist of, and how long will it be?
Jan Brett will do a 20 minute drawing illustration and presentation. It will begin at 5pm. We will begin checking ticket holders in between 4:15pm and 4:30pm.
We’ve heard that Jan travels in a really cool bus! Will it be there for the event?
Jan’s tour bus will be parked in An Unlikely Story’s rear parking lot at 4pm. It is wrapped in artwork from THE MERMAID. Your family is welcome to take a photograph next to the bus. Hedgie the Hedgehog will also be there the day of the event, and you can have your picture taken with him!
Where should we park for the event?
The parking lot immediately behind the bookstore will be closed to all except those with handicapped needs as Jan's tour bus will be parked behind the store. There is ample parking in the lot diagonally across from the bookstore, including behind the white house next to the parking lot.
Can we order books and have them personalized if we can’t attend the event?
Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that you will be able to have your book signed. It all depends on how many people come to the signing. We CAN guarantee that you can receive a special bookplate signed by Jan featuring her beautiful artwork.
Can our $5 Coupon be combined towards a book purchase? Can we use it on books other than Jan Brett’s?
You can only use one coupon per book, and they are only good on Jan Brett books the day of the event.
Do children need to have tickets to the event?
If a child will be sitting in a seat, then they will need to have a ticket. We have a limited capacity, so need to make sure we don’t violate the fire code.
