Artist and author, Joe Fig will be visiting our store to give a presentation about the evolution of his artwork as well as the creative process of artists. After his visually based and dynamic presentation, Joe will be answering audience questions and signing copies of his books: Inside the Artist's Studio and Inside the Painter's Studio.

What was your first artwork to receive recognition? What materials do you use, and how did they come into your practice? What advice would you give a young artist just starting out?

Joe Fig asked a wide range of celebrated artists these and many other questions during the illuminating studio visits documented in Inside the Artist's Studio--the follow-up to his acclaimed 2009 book, Inside the Painter's Studio. In this remarkable collection, twenty-four painters, video and mixed-media artists, sculptors, and photographers reveal highly idiosyncratic production tools and techniques, as well as quotidian habits and strategies for getting work done: the music they listen to; the hours they keep; and the relationships with galleries and curators, friends, family, and fellow artists that sustain them outside the studio.

Joe Fig is an artist and author known for his works that explore the creative process and the spaces where art is made. His paintings and sculptures are exhibited internationally and can be found in numerous museums and leading private collections. Fig received his BFA and MFA from the School of Visual Arts. He is represented by Cristin Tierney Gallery in New York. Fig works and lives in Connecticut's Farmington River Valley with his wife and two children. For more information about Joe, please visit:
