Partnering with the North Attleboro YMCA, An Unlikely Story invites you to join the Discussion Group (formerly a book club) focused on healthy eating and living! The group gathers at the bookstore and the North Attleboro YMCA in alternating months. They explore books, cookbooks, food literature, cooking methods, videos, and lifestyle changes centered on real, whole foods and a clean-eating lifestyle.
This Discussion Group is open to all -- omnivores to vegans -- who want to talk about food, health and cooking. They request that everyone remain curious and respectful of each others’ choices. Members of the group will suggest a variety of resources each month to keep the discussions dynamic and broad-based. Food tastings and cooking demos will be sprinkled in as well! An Unlikely Story will offer a 10% discount on Discussion Group books in stock when bought during "Y Eat Healthy" meetings, although purchasing the books is not required for participation.
In May, our topic of discussion will be stress, because ... who doesn't live without stress? Linking stress back to food, we know that making home-cooked meals can add to stress levels because of the time it takes and the learning curve involved if you're not used to cooking. Let's tackle the challenge together by learning what stress does to our bodies, discussing strategies to alleviate it, and transform that information into an action plan for healthy living. Bring tips for quicker food prep and homemade meals, or your favorite self-care activities, or please join us just to learn some!
Instead of focusing on one specific book, we've offered a list of possible books to peruse before -- and after -- our meeting below. If you don't have time to look at the books, please join us anyway! Please feel free to share your favorite books on the topic of the month (by email to Bonnie or Jocelyn) so that we can introduce them to the group.
